Back together - Back to knitting

Jane and I ran into each other at the Justice Souter event.  Justice Souter was interviewed by Margaret Warner to kick off the Constitutionally Speaking project to promote civic engagement.

Here is a link to the UNH School of Law web site so you can watch Justice Souter if you missed the event.

And here is a picture of my Justice Souter and Justice Thomas bobbles to inspire jealousy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

(Traditional Irish Blessing; origin unknown,
although some attribute it to St. Patrick.)

Et tu Brute?

It's that day of the year!  March 15!

Estonian Mittens

One benefit of Facebook is that you can "friend" non-persons.  Remember, as Mittens has reminded us, "Corporations are people too".  I friended Estonian Mittens on Facebook after seeing the top book at Cathy's house.  It reminds me of the Eeva Haavisto book, Sata Kansanomaista Kuvionkudinmallia.

Well my friend, Estonian Mittens, sent me some links today.  One link is to the Nordic Knitters website.  The other link was to this Etsy shop.

I want to pull out my Finnish mitten patterns and get started!  The spring weather might lure me down to Harrisville.  And the Easter displays at Burdick's are always worth the drive

Woolies for Weenies?

With Spring in the air, everyone was in the mood to start a Dale sweater (maybe the kit comes with the model).  That way the sweater can be ready by winter....oh 2016?

Some of us are preparing our town meeting knitting - knitting that won't get too tight as stress levels rise.  Pay to Throw or level bandstands can lead to very tight knitting indeed.

No one seems ready to send a wooly gift to Speaker O'Brien.  But if you need your gauge to be much, much tighter, listen to J. Scott Moody on The Exchange.  You will find that you will be knitting kevlar.

Feeling politically active?

Has the New Hampshire legislature got you down?  You could knit yourself a jaunty sash or...maybe one of these little items!  Thanks to Melissa for the link.

Trust No one!

Trust No one....that includes lawn care men and scions of wealthy families who claim to own cathedrals.

Happy Wednesday!  Next Tuesday is the beginning of a new session.  Keep knitting and pontificating.  The word "pontificate" reminds me of Rome and the story that Pat told about the palms in St. Peter's.  Pat's story can be read here.

And above is Monet's Palm Trees at Bordighera.

In case you missed it - Jane told an excellent joke about a female brain cell who finds herself in the echoing caverns of a male brain.  I have to bring my movie camera class to catch the telling.

Mardi Gras Knitting!

We discussed Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes (that hussy).

The book of the week is White Truffles in Winter.

This scarf is similar to the one Martha is knitting.  However, Martha's is bellissimo.  I am having my own battles with this pattern.  We better hope that blocking will cure all!

And...if we can't knit for Ryan Gosling, we can always knit something for any of the young men on My Daguerreotype Boyfriend.  We know they appreciate wool.

Who Knew...there was a yarn store in Center Sandwich?

While attending the State Middle School Nordic Meet in Center Sandwich, I visited this store.  They had Peace Fleece, Noro, and some of their own in lovely hues.

And the trophy went to Rundlett Middle School girls!  Best in the State.

Rules of Civility by Amor Towles

Suellen recommended this book.  I have it out of the Concord Public Library.  Put yourself on the waiting list.  It is wonderful.
